The Cap'n and I celebrated our 13th wedding anniversary this week. We went out to a nice dinner, paid the babysitter $425 and were home in time to put the kids to bed. We know how to party. The most memorable part of the day was receiving a special gift from our oldest child, 7 year old Thumbelina.
She'd been telling us for a week that she had something really, really great for us. Something incredibly awesome. And it was going to be way, way better than anything we could ever imagine that she would give us. She built up our hopes. She ramped up the suspense and anticipation.
The child did not disappoint.
As soon as we woke up on our anniversary, we were directed to sit on the couch for the presentation of the gift. Thumbelina waited until we were ready, marched into the room, stepped onto the coffee table and with a flourish, revealed our gift.
That's right. It's an absolutely massive Venus and Serena Williams poster. It's large enough to decorate the exterior of a very classy van. And even though we don't watch tennis or care about the Williams sisters at all - Thumbelina brought the thunder. That thing is AWESOME. It is now hanging where she suggested we put it, right where people can see it as soon they walk in our house. (Mommy had to take down down her Twilight poster that Kate gave me but that was no problem, except for Kate... but, whatever.)
It. Is. The. Best. Anniversary. Present. Ever.
The. End.
