Today, I'm not a loser. NOT TODAY!

I said that if Parents Magazine named us the funniest blog of the year I would do for all eternity:

WELL GUESS WHAT?! I am doing it now! Because we won!

First of all THANK YOU. Thank you so much. It was one of you who nominated us. It was all of you who voted for us. I can't thank you enough for doing that. I'm very, very grateful. I wish I could hug you, and we could have one of those long and painful moments (painful for you, not painful for me -  because I can no longer feel shame). Where I hug you for too long and my eyes fill up, and I bite my lip so I won't cry, and I just keep hugging you and saying thank you, and you're like "Woman, I don't even KNOW you. Why are you embarrassing me like this in Target?" And then you call security but I still worry that you don't realize how much I mean it when I say THANK YOU.

Also, can you please leave a comment with your top 5 favorite posts? Parents Magazine has asked us for the 3-5 posts that we think most exemplify what Rants from Mommyland is all about (and they want for them to be at least kind of recent, so in the last year or so).  If there's older ones you really love, you can of course suggest those, too. I have to tell them by Monday so please, help a sister out.

Look, it's real!

xoxo, Lydia

  2. I think my favorites ever are the 1st bounce house pick up, the time you did fire safety drills at home, & the one where you talk about how mini got the devil cupcake nickname. (I really like that one because I have my own devil cupcake. She's 2 with blond shirley temple curls & blue eyes as big as saucers & the most charming little chipped front tooth...but can destroy a room in the blink of an eye, can hold her own with her 3 bigger brothers, & can boss people like it's her job. It makes me feel better to know I'm not alone!)

  4. YOU ALL HAVE EARNED THIS WIN!!!! HOORAY! I will always go to Art Fail posts when I need a laugh. ALWAYS. And the more recent auto-correct post made coffee shoot out all our noses here.

  5. It's got to be the one about your preschool -- since it was about something important and also makes you laugh so hard you wake up the kid who is FINALLY napping.

  7. Congratulations! I think my favorite from the past year has been, "Why None of the Dads Will Make Eye Contact with Me". I laughed SO hard.

  8. Love the Father's Day "butterfly" drawing one. And the one where you were at ball practice and made up the word symp*ssy. Both are so freaking funny... and so much like my own life! My kids have drawn so many pornographic things... and I too have no filter.

  17. Definitely the Valentines for the Real World post. It made me laugh so hard I almost peed myself. Which isn't hard since I'm 8 months pregnant, but still. I sent the link to my husband, and he laughed so hard that one of his coworkers came to make sure he was okay. Apparently, he sounded like a dying seal, or possibly like he was choking on something. In any case, we laughed. Embarrassingly hard.

Also, congrats! You are awesome, and totally deserve this!

  23. Bounce house, stickers on your boobs, five guys. And--I think you told a story about your child putting gum in her underpants at a bowling alley, but that may have been a guest poster. Anyways, congratulations!!!

    ReplyDelete
  24. I have to agree that the one about Five Guys needs to go on there, I've never laughed about something written so hard in my life. But recently I really loved (and totally related to) the post on 1/22/13: A Few Ways I Suck at Having a Sick Kid.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Oh yes, the throwing up in Five Guys is a good one, and also the one when you mistook lipstick for lip balm and did a presentation with lipstick all over your face. Hysterical!!

  32. Congrats! Gosh there are quite a few old posts I would use. But recent ones would be for sure the bounce house and... I'm gonna have to go back and look. Wasn't there one about summertime? You forgetting school was out. Haha! And wine. Anything about your love for cleaning out target's boxed wine. But if you were trying to give a good representation you definitely need to include a few definitions from your MDR and the great thing you did with the hookers... That was such a huge success and shows all the great things you guys do too. Love you guys and love your blog!
