How I Know it's Almost Summer

So we've passed that all important maternal marker - Memorial Day weekend. It's practically summer and that means all the rules are different. You know how I know this? Because there are so many reasons. If you don't believe me, here are eleven.

  1. I heard a joke somewhere on the internets about a dad who convinced his kid that when the ice cream truck played music as it drove by, it meant they were out of ice cream. Is it too late to convince your kids of that one? Hahaha

    2. I call it the music truck. My son (31/2) says how come it has ice cream on the outside. I totally ignored him and now he is back to the music truck with ice cream pictures. It's working for now...

  2. Bedtime is killing us. My three year old is up at 6 and goes to bed at freaking NINE. We put him to bed but he rackets around his room til nine. COME SOON WINTER. Luckily my children don't care much about icecream. VERY lucky because there is one ten feet from my back fence. YAY.

    1. I'm in the same boat with my 3 year old. Even room darkening curtains don't help. She goes down at 8 and asleep by 9. Bedtime wars are fun.... not.

    2. Have you started skipping naps? Both of mine did this, and when we stopped naps it helped a bunch.

    3. Right there with you. Normal bedtime for my 3 year old is 8, she's been finally staying down for the night around 10, climbs into bed with us and begins pummeling our kidneys/jumping on our heads around 6. It sucks, I'm so very tired.

    4. My three year old stopped napping before he turned two. Unless he's in the car, no nap. He never napped well. I finally gave up fighting with him because he'd do stuff like pull down his drapes or shove all his furniture that wasn't wall mounted against the door. He plays in his room from 6 a.m. til half past then he starts knocking on his door and yelling "yoohoo I'm UP".

  3. My parents told us that the ice cream truck was the Music Man. No ice cream there!

  4. *blink* *blink* You mean you have towels nice enough for people to see in PUBLIC? Tee hee! My daughter always grabs the rattiest towel ever when she goes somewhere else to swim. So now I find mildewy, damp towels all over the hardwood floor PLUS I get to be mortified that the neighbours know we own such a rag of a towel. And USE it. Sigh. Also, why do kids and husbands feel leaving wet towels and swimware in a plastic bag to ferment is a good idea? Blech.

  6. My 6yr old is lactose intolerant. She makes a point to announce to the park when the ice cream cart rolls up that she can't have ice cream because it makes her toot and the cat gags. (The cat was coughing up a hair ball.)

  7. Love it!! I especially loved the first pedicure of the season crack. I need to do that this week before going to the beach or people may run away in horror.

    Also? Presexytime shaving=Lol.

  9. Number 5 was myself and my 6 year old last night before bath time. That's straight out of the things I never imagined I might someday have to do. The tick was safely removed with a minimal amount of tears from both of us.

  10. My children have been out of school already for two freaking weeks. I'm counting down the days until August already...
