Guess what happened? I made a whole new website because you told me to. It's called Artfails. I took all of the amazing, inappropriate and hysterical kid art that you guys had sent me over the years and put it all in one place. Now that's it mostly done, I have to admit that I love it so, so, so much.

You know why? Two reasons. First, it celebrates how awesome and fun kids are. You guys know I love to rant about them, but really - they're pretty much the best thing ever. Plus, sometimes I think there's a whole lot of unhappy snark out there and a whole lot of "I am loving my precious, perfect family at you so hard right now" but not a whole lot in between. Artfails are imperfect, silly, embarrassing, good-hearted FUN.

Also, it's a great thing to have in your back pocket from when you're having a schmidty day. Five minutes spent looking at this goofy kid stuff, and you'll probably feel at least a little bit better. So if you have a couple of "I need to cheer myself up" websites bookmarked (like this, or this, or this, or this) - add ArtFails to the mix.

In case you're new or you don't remember when art fails were a regular thing around here, let me sing you a little ditty all about it. ArtFails started when my daughter doodled the following on a napkin:

That's a llama horse and it's obviously awesome because look at his cheeks.

Then a few weeks later, we got my son's hardcover end-of-the-year Kindergarten class book; a treasured keepsake for every family in the class. Here's his page:

This prompted my husband to say: "WHAT KIND OF CLASS CELEBRATION DID THEY HAVE, ANYWAY?!"

Publishing these gems on the blog led to lots of other people sharing their kids' masterpieces with me. We called them "artfails" and we started posting round-ups of all the really great ones that were sent in. Then one of those very brilliant (and attractive) reader was like; "Hey, Jackass! Why don't you start another blog and call it"

And that's how I ended up making up this amazing new website. Isn't that a lovely story?

I would love it if you would check it out and maybe tell your friends about it. You can find it right here.

One more thing! You'd think by now that I would know what I'm doing but I don't. So expect me to make lots of embarrassing mistakes.
