Reluctant Whole 30 Day 30

I did it. Well, I almost did it. I'm going to bed in a few minutes and when I wake up, I'll be done with the Whole 30. So this is today's gif:

Right On

Eating today was easy and I was only hungry at meal times, which was nice. Here's what I ate:

Coffee: 2 cups with coconut cream
Breakfast: 2 fried eggs on top of left over egg roll in a bowl. This was delicious. We should always put fried eggs on top of it.
Lunch: 3 Ridell's sausages with probiotic sauerkraut
Dinner: I took the recipe for chicken zucchini poppers and I added some cilantro and some grated carrot and lots of salt and pepper and turned them into burgers and grilled them. OMG. Everybody do this. It was so delicious that I nearly passed out. It was so good that I almost decided it was too good for ungrateful children and saved them all for myself.

Tomorrow I'm going to the doctor to get a full work up, including bloodwork. I'm also going to weigh myself finally and take measurements to see if I'm any smaller. GOD I REALLY HOPE I AM. I'll be posting a follow up in a few days when I have the results from my doctor's appointment and then in about a week I'll write about how the process of reintroducing dairy, sugar, wheat and of course, lovely, lovely wine.

One last note for today. If I can do this, literally anyone can. You just have to decide you're going to.  So if you're on the fence about trying this - I say got for it.

You Can Do It

  1. Congratulations - I've been cheering for you every day and having a drink just for you ;) As someone who has been doing a paleo-ish lifestyle for about 10 months w positive results I encourage you to stick with it...not as strict as whole 30...because omg life without wine is no life at all. .but you will feel better... congrats mama!!!

  2. Congrats!!! You are so funny and so real. I really appreciate you blogging about your experience. I am on the fence about this but I think I'm going to go for it. We have a lot of the same issues it seems and I'm looking for a change.

  3. While I haven't commented, I have been following every day of your journey and am so proud of you! I can't wait to hear about your results and if nothing else, you've learned that you can do anything you put your mind to for 30 days! Good job, girlfriend!!!

  4. WAY TO GO, LADY!!!!!! Can't wait to hear about the reintroduction.

  5. Thanks so much for posting your journey. I've been thinking about trying it and while I'm sure it's not easy, you make it look do-able. I am a horrible cook so if there's any other recipes you have can you post them? Thank and congrats!

  6. Congrats! Eating clean and ditching alcohol changed my whole life :)

  7. I am on day 3 of whole 30. Ouff!!
    Nice posts, thanks!

  8. I've been following your progress and first want to say congratulations!
I think if you ever try the Whole 30 again or if anyone else is interested in trying it, you should definitely check out the meal template they have available on their website: http://whole30.com/downloads/whole30-meal-planning.pdf

I'm not trying to take away from your accomplishment or say you did it wrong, but I don't think you ate nearly enough for your 3 meals or included enough fat and veggies at each meal. This is key, especially the fat at meals, to keeping yourself full between meals, optimizing your energy and mood, and since you're full you don't need to snack at all between meals or at night. Snacking is pretty much a no-no anyway on the Whole 30 to help eliminate all those sucky emotional attachments that come with food.

It seems like eating a whole lot right away when you first start the Whole 30, but you adapt over time for sure! :)
